Kate Whitfield

Kate Whitfield began dancing with Studio R Ballet 12 years ago at the age of 10. During her time here, she performed in many classical ballets such as The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Coppélia, La Bayadère, and Sleeping Beauty. Kate also spent 5 years competing in the Youth America Grand Prix, being awarded for contemporary, classical, and ensemble works. Following her time at SRB, she went on to train at the University of Utah under artistic director Melonie Murray, furthering her studies in classical ballet, jazz, partnering, pedagogy, music, character dance, ballet history, choreography, modern/contemporary dance, kinesiology, dance conditioning, and technical theatre/lighting. Following several injuries, Kate decided to take a break from dancing and moved to Paris, France where she studied French and had the opportunity to take classes and guest teach at several ballet schools across the city. Now that she has returned to the United States, Kate is super excited to have the opportunity with Studio R Ballet to pass her knowledge along, and facilitate an environment where safe movement can be explored, no matter the age or skill level.
